LabSelect: Label selector and printer. QUICK HELP. Vn4 Rev 29 For Workbench 2 upwards ONLY This revision expects data as S:.lab ============================= ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This program requires req.library to be in your LIBS: directory. Copy this file into libs: if you don't have it there. This utility is designed for printing small batches of address labels for a few individuals. eg 5 for Fred, 10 for Anne, etc. It is not intended for printing a lot of individual labels for a list of people. Use another utility for this: there are several PD programs available. The labels should be on continuous, preferably tractor-feed stock, and one-abreast. You need to have each name/address on a separate file, which you prepare with any text editor just as you would type them by hand. It doesn't matter whether you start each line at the left edge of your screen or leave a margin, as you can shift the text sideways when you 'view' it during the run. For easy use, put all these address files in the same directory. The program starts by offering you the S: directory, but you can use any. Some example data files are supplied with this program. ** Note ** Addresses must be saved in ASCII format, not word-processor specific format. Text editors usually save in ASCII anyway. Some word-processors offer 'ASCII save' while others (eg Word Perfect) offer 'Save as Text', or "Print to File". Whichever way you do it, the file must be 'ordinary, readable' text. If you are in any doubt, the command TYPE should produce clear text on your screen with no 'weird' control characters or colour changes. See the document Labsel.doc for fuller information about this utility, including the use of the LQ (Letter Quality) printer option, & how to type in addresses. JPM (aka 'Gnome') 14.3.93
